Brian Whelan is responsible for driving and leading the company’s strategic vision and objectives.

Brian established Above Scaffolding in 1996 with the purpose of developing an organisation that would lead the industry in the design and installation of engineered scaffolding solutions.

The focus on customer service, safety, and innovation that Brian has fostered in the business has earned the company an unrivalled reputation for Doing It Better.

Brian holds a Batchelor of Engineering Degree and a Master of Engineering Science Degree.

Mark’s focus is Project Delivery with a proactive approach to client relations, project management and business development.

Mark directs our team of project managers and site supervisors, ensuring that planning, safety, and service are maintained throughout the course of each project.

Over the last 10 years, Mark has cultivated a dedicated, customer-focused culture within the business, defining our approach and separating us from the rest.

Owen McGuigan joined Above Scaffolding in 2009, and has over 14 years of experience in the construction industry. Owen is responsible for directing the technical aspects of Above Scaffolding’s projects, from concept development, through the design phase, to final inspection and handover of the access solution. Owen has specialist knowledge and experience in working with the Layher system and with swinging stages (suspended scaffolds).

Owen holds a Bachelor of Civil Structural and Environmental Engineering Degree (Honours).

Nathan has over 20 years scaffolding and rigging experience working with the Layher Allround system and the Skyclimber Swinging Stage system.

Since moving from Site Supervision into a Project Management role in 2016, Nathan has applied his wealth of knowledge and experience to successfully deliver Above’s more challenging projects.

Nathan’s qualifications include High Risk Work licences in Advanced Scaffolding and Advanced Rigging.

Jose has over 9 years industry experience,leading projects in challenging environments such as Sydney’s Garden Island naval base and the Sydney Opera House.

Jose’s many strengths include estimating, client relations,contractor management, safety plan development and implementation, and resource allocation.

Jose holds a Bachelor of Business Management Degree, an Advanced Diploma in Management,and an Advanced Diploma in International Business.

Danny joined Above Scaffolding in 2015 and directs the activities of the company’s storage, service and maintenance, and logistics functions, based at Smithfield.

Danny trained in the UK as a Shipwright working on commercial vessels, with a background in specialised fabrication and electrical systems.

Danny calls upon his technical know-how and his previous experience running major supply chain operations to ensure that our site teams are supported with timely and accurate deliveries of fully serviced and maintained equipment.

Leanne joined Above in 2019. With over eight years accounting and administration experience across a range of industries, Leanne has found her passion working in the Construction industry !

Leanne oversees the daily operations of the Accounting function while also ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the office. She works closely with the Managing Director to develop and improve business processes and procedures and supports the Project Managers with the administration of our project contracts and progress claims.

Leanne holds a Bachelor of Economics Degree and an Advanced Diploma of Accounting.

Jan Carlo (JC) joined Above Scaffolding in 2020 as a Structural Engineer with over 13 years construction and temporary works experience.

JC is responsible for modelling and analysing the company’s scaffold designs and ensuring compliance with the relevant standards and codes. JC provides direction and support to the scaffolding teams and conducts engineering inspections of the scaffold installations prior to handover and while in service.

JC holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and is a Member of the Institute of Engineers Australia. JC is also registered on the National Engineers Register (NER) as a Structural Engineer.

Gus has worked with Above Scaffolding since 2019, first commencing as a general yard operative. From here, after gaining good familiarisation with the core Layher product range and overall operations, Gus commenced design and drafting work at head office mid 2020.

Gus has gained substantial experience in the drafting and design role working with complex Layher designs in 2D and 3D, producing preliminary designs, construction level drawings, material lists and also carrying out detailed site survey and measure.

Matthew joined Above Scaffolding on a full-time basis in 2023 although he has worked with the business on an occasional basis since 2009.

Matthew as Design Engineer is responsible for detailed design work on complex projects, producing concept drawings and designs, through to construction level drawings, and monitoring progress of projects as they come online.

Matthew holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from UNSW – bringing a wealth of project management, technical analysis and industry experience to the role.

Andrea started his career in the scaffolding industry in 2009 in Italy working on major international oil and gas refineries, gaining first hand experience as a scaffolder assembling tube and fit and Layher system scaffolding.

Since moving to Australia in 2018, Andrea initially worked on the tools building a wide range of scaffold structures in the greater Sydney area, and worked with Above Scaffolding on the site side for a number of years.

Now qualified with an Advanced Diploma of Civil Construction design, Andrea commenced full time in the Above Scaffolding office in 2023, and has been carrying out detailed designs and drafting with the Layher system on major civil infrastructure and defence projects.
